Halloween Themed Sensory Play Bin Ideas For Kids

If your child loves sensory play then why not theme your next sensory bin around Halloween! Get into that spooky spirit and watch the kids have lots of fun with these creepy ideas.

First of all you’ll need to add a sensory bin ‘filler’ to a container. This could be things such as

  • Colored rice (color using vinegar and food coloring)
  • Water beads
  • Pebbles
  • Kinetic sand
  • Chickpeas
  • Pom Poms
  • Shredded Paper
  • Dirt
  • Feathers
  • Oats
  • Buttons
  • Water
  • Shaving foam

Next add themed items such as creepy plastic figures, mini cauldrons, scoops, tongs and bowls. Try and add different textures that your child can explore.

A sensory bin is designed to stimulate all or some of the following senses, touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight.

Try adding lots of textures, a couple of drops of diluted child safe essential oil, items that can make noise (such as a plastic bottle and rice) and vivid colors. This will ensure that all your childs senses are stimulated which makes for the perfect sensory box!

I’ve found some amazing Halloween themed sensory play bins for kids and toddlers on Instagram. I’ve put the ideas below and linked the accounts so you can take a closer look at their fabulous ideas.
